overclock cpu vs vcore

Is there a correlation in how much you can step up the FSB freq. with regards to how much the Vcore voltage can be raised? Inotherwords, how many MHz can you step up the CPU FSB until you have to change the Vcore voltage.

as far as im aware there isnt a scientific correlation between the two for overclocking you chip in a normal home pc. If im wrong im sure someone will jump in a say so. lol Some chips can reach high overclocks without any mod in the vcore and others need masive jumps to get anywhere at all. Just depends on how well it was made.
for example i used to have a winchester 3200 amd which wouldnt move at all without jumping to 1.5 -1.55 vcore to push from 2000 mhz to 2250. But my current venice core will do 2600 mhz with .25 increase in vcore.
Its trial and error. Im not sure what vcore you chip should be running standard and how much i can take so please dont use the above values as they are for a amd64 chip.

The only factor that determines when and if you can raise the vcore is the physical condition of the chip. If it is a good one you can overclock it a lot and it will accept vcore increases without a problem. If not, then you cant do it. This isnt dependent on the kind of chip, you can have 2 identical athlon 3000s and one will overclock and one won't.
Summary: Lowering the vcore will lower the temp...installing a different HSF *may* lower the temp. But I highly doubt a new HSF will change the voltage requirement for your overclocked CPU. ...
Summary: Alright. Here we go ago AGAIN. I posted a message on 4/30/04 about overclocking CPU via FSB, which I've successfully done. I knew that I wouldn't be able to go to high because of my SDRAM, but I wa...
