Hello all, I have an Asus P4V533-MX m/b with a pentium 4 1.7GHz processor running at 400MHz fsb. I have checked some places on the net and it says that this m/b will not allow me to overclock my cup. But I was wondering if any of you guys were able to do this or if you have some online resources that I could check out. Thanks, Sarosh.

I had a look at your manual & it doesn't look like there are any overclocking options. Your only alternative would be overclocking software...search for CPUFSB, SoftFSB, or ClockGEN & see which one supports your board (if any)

hello your motherboard is Asus P4V533-MX right ?
note the number in motherboard 533 that means it supports bus 533 for P4 CPU
P4 CPUs are mostly clock locked so you cannot over clock them, but the good news is that you can install the latest celerons (called Celeron D) wiyth 256 k cache running at 2.53 or even 2.81 GHz. check your motherboard site for cpu support list.
Summary: hi overclocker, I dont think you can get a p4 1.7 or bigger for that amount, maybe your teacher means a celeron 1.7 or bigger, maybe huh.I will look around on the net and see what we can come up with. m...
