You should have no problem with the stock fan. It's the motherboard & RAM that you need to be concerned about. Do you have DDR400 & a motherboard with overclocking features? If so, you *should* be able to crank it up to 2.25GHz.

Thanks for the respons. The only motherboard i have ever overclocked was an old asus p3?

You have a good enough motherboard, but you're not gonna be able to overclock with that RAM. The DDR266 is killing performance as it is, not to mention that you only have a total of 384MB. Overclocking isn't gonna help...you need DDR400 RAM & you should really have a minmum of 512MB.

Definitely get the 1GB RAM & make sure it's DDR400 (aka PC3200). The FX5500 isn't a very good card though. How much are you willing to spend?

what video card do you have now?

Too bad you can't buy online. Here's a 1GB stick of Crucial DDR400 for just $21 after rebate:

The FX5500 is pretty weak by today's standards, but anything's an improvement over what you have...lol.

There are ways to buy stuff online without a credit card. Some sites accept checks or money orders, or you may be able to use a pre-paid debit/mastercard. You'd have to look at the website's policy.

I'm not a big fan of TigerDirect, but look at what you can get for $50:

Radeon X1650Pro 512MB/128-bit GDDR2 AGP8x

TigerD accepts money orders too. And just in case you don't know, CompUSA is now owned by TigerD...here's the same card for the same price:

Radeon X1650Pro 512MB @ CompUSA - $50
