is it possible to overclock the p3 550?? its very slow and outdated now please help!!!

You won't get much of an overclock from a p3 550. Those arean't exactly renouned as good overclockers. I suppose you could download CPUcool and see if you could raise the FSB a bit, even if you do have PC100 RAM it might be worth a try. I would be suprised if you are able to get it above 105 * 5.5. Even if you get it at this you won't see the difference. No offence, but if you really want to see a big speed improvement you need to completely upgrade the system in form of a new motherboard, CPU, RAM and power supply.

i overclocked my p3 550Mhz to 600Mhz, there's no significant improvement in performance xcept when running applns like cool edit or with games, but there's a cooling problem...so i just removed the cover of the cabinet and directed air from a table fan onto the motherboard. my bios:: amibios 99 the machine ran for 5 hrs without any hitch!! but u endup eating up on ur cpu life, but then agn. we dont keep a p3550 for more than a year or 18 months from t'day. the decision is yours!
