Hey guys! Can anyone help? I have the K7S5A pro with the amd duron proc. It is so slow. I am a novice pc user and learn every day. I can do all kinds of hardware changes but i have never done overclocking. IMy FSB isonly 75 and that realy sucks. I have no $$$ so I am stuck. I need to over clock. Will one of youwalk me through this?
AMD Duron
K7S5A pro (mother)
Radeon 9600 pro
SB Audigy
512 +256 on radeon.
Also, I would appreciate any tips on setting the Bios because, I can not set the bios to the actual RAM speed or frequency. If i set it to 133/100 or 133/133/100/133/166/166 etc I have to hit the jumpers because the system will ot boot. (short the battery) Also is ther any benifit or significant gains enablinf fast write? THANX MAN!!!! It would be nice to be able to play SWG and turn thegraphics up past there absolute min.

jerr

"IMy FSB isonly 75 and that realy sucks"

Why are you only running at 75MHz FSB??

"If i set it to 133/100 or 133/133/100/133/166/166 etc"

If you have an older Duron (up to 1.4GHz) that runs at 200FSB, the correct setting is 100/100, regardless of the type/speed of RAM you're using. If you have one of the newer versions that run at 266FSB, the correct setting "should" be 133/133, but your RAM must support the 133MHz speed...that means PC133 (SDR-RAM) or PC2100 or better (DDR-RAM)

If you wanna overclock with that board, you'll need to flash to either the Cheepoman or HoneyX overclocking BIOS. Try searching Google

Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @ 8 x 210MHz
512MB PC3200
Asus Ti4800SE 128MB
WinME/WinXP Pro

can someone help or give me some advice please i have a 533 was 128ram but now it is 256ram a guy in a shop was telling me i can overclock it he says it is easy.I use to fiddle around with Ham radio's and building power supplys so i have caught on to the computer fairly quickly only been active for a couple of months. Now since i have been told about this overclocking from what i can see it's not possible well it is but only can be done with this PC via the jumpers but i do n't know and maybe i can only get 633 out of it now that i have waffled on any support would be very very appeciated. It's an old P2 533 WAS 128ram i put another memory stick in and now it's 256ram for an old dog she works quite ok well at least i think so besides for me to learn on it will have to do jam or somebody can you people please give me some help[advice] any at all thanx...
