Ok i have a DVD ROM, 1 100 gigabyte 7200rpm Western Digital drive, 1 2 year old 10 gig 7200rpm drive. I want to know if i wanted Optimal performance, what should i set, like which controller should i connect it to and the jumper settings etc. If i do set at optimal performance, will i really notice a speed increase?

Something like 100Gig as primary master, 10Gig as secondary master and dvd-rom as secondary slave. Check that DMA is enabled.

I don't know as you didn't say how you're set up currently.
