Wussup guys I just wanted to get opinion on some parts. I wanted to make an amd system. My main reason to make an amd system is because its dirt cheap. I was looking a ASRock ALiveNF6P-VSTA from newegg a openbox for $25! and also I saw the BIOSTAR TForce TF8200 A2+ . Plus I see that has a pcie 2.0 which my card supports but does it make a big difference from regular pcie 1.0? I like the biostarit is very expandable. I already have in my arsenal a 9600 gso evga card that I got for $50, patriot 9200-1066fsb ram ($35 ebay lol seller sent wrong ram), and antec case nsk4480+380earthwatts ($25 bestbuy). I just need to buy my cpu, board, and hdd. I was thinking I need to buy a am2+ board so I can later on buy a phenom cpu which i don't want to buy now since its out of my budget. I use to have a athlon64 le1600 with a evga 8600gt 256mb with a tforce board 7050 geforce which was mindblowing to me but now that system my dad has at his home. I have been slowly been buying my parts so I can get the cheapest s--- since I am not in a rush. You can see the above parts I already bought area already better then the ones I had. I have been just debating on which cpu. Which dual core? Which is best bang for ur buck? I see the nvidia chipset for motherboard is way better in performance. I am scaried of Amd chipsets as I heard they are a little troubelsome. I am also looking to go green parts like 45 watts cpu from amd look very good. And I am planning to buy a green western digital hdd but speed is a factor to me so is better to get a regular hdd? I am looking for cheap stuff and reliable. I am not intending to overclock. But just something good. also is it true phenom cpu only runs on actual 200 fsb?

AMD systems haven't used a FSB for many years. The frequency on all AMD CPU's is 200MHz but the HyperTransport bus (which is what replaces the outdated FSB) either runs at 2600MHz (5200 MT/s) on AM2+ boards or 1000MHz (2000 MT/s) on AM2 boards. And just so you know, dual core CPUs don't support DDR2-1066 RAM, they will automatically downclock it to DDR2-800 speed. You need a Phenom (or X3) to be able to take full adavantage of DDR2-1066 RAM.

Since there's no FSB, there's not a huge performance difference between chipsets. I suggest you avoid SiS & VIA based motherboards, but AMD/ATI & nVidia based boards are both a good choice.

As for getting an "open box" board, it's always a bit of a risk. There's no guarantee that you'll get all the parts...the only part you are guaranteed to get is the board itself. You may not get the I/O shield, driver CD, manual, cables, etc, so keep that in mind. Plus there's a 30-day return policy on open box. Don't buy until you're ready to build.
