Comment: i have an AMD XP 2500+ barton overclocked to a 3200. how come i can only choose up to 200 FSB in the bios? i have a asus a7n8x-x mobo with the latest bios. my motherboard supports 400FSB my memory is kingston pc3200 (400) and my processor goes up to 333. what cant i run at that speed? aluminumriot

Reply: (edit)The selection in the BIOS is actually called CPU External Frequency. The FSB is two times that. If you set it to 200 then the FSB is set to 400.

AMD double-pumps the FSB... 100mhz = 200FSB 133mhz = 266FSB 166mhz = 333FSB 200mhz = 400FSB Intel quad-pumps the FSB... 100mhz = 400FSB 133mhz = 533FSB 200mhz = 800FSB
