Comment: I'm confused by the current numbering system for Intel processors (Not the looming 7xx, 5x, etc system. The current one). Do Pentium 4's, M's and Celerons use the save numbering system in terms of GHz? For example, is a Pentium M 1.4GHz slower than a Pentium 4 2.2GHz? I ask because I've seen laptops with P4 processors that are less than half the price other laptops running PM processors with less than half the GHz. Why pay more for less than half the clock speed, just because the processor has an "M" next to it? Kisses XXOOXX Jen

Reply: (edit)Appreciate the kisses Jen. The Pentium M 1.4ghz is as good or slightly better than a p4 2.4ghz. Its a totally new design and is more efficient than the p4 in a lot of ways. Hence the price. It also has power saving features making it good on a laptop.

Reply: (edit)Don't be confuse by the new number P4 and your current P4 M. The upcoming P4 M using the new numbering system has 2 MB of cache; which makes it a lot faster than current higher Ghz chip. Intel no longer goes for high Ghz; which in the last few years did not really measure up with AXP unless highly overclocked.(which they do pretty good; but so do AXP's) The price for the Intel M chip will cost more than AMD M. The situation with Intel Prescott heat issue has finally made Intel taking the turn. (self inflicted wounds)
