I recently bought a faulty PNY GeForce 6200 card that always overheats when I play my games unless I play with the case open. Is it really okay to keep using the computer with the case open all the time?
If you're sure the card is faulty & it's not becuase your case cooling sucks, either take the card back to where you bought it or contact PNY tech support, explain your problem, & request an RMA. Most video cards come with 3 yr "repair or exchange" warranty.
I see you apparently have an eMachine? What type of case cooling arrangement does it have? Running with the case open should be considered a short term "fix". Case cooling is designed for a closed system, open the system & it's no longer working efficiently.
