I was cannibalizing my old puter and I took out the heatsink that was in a old 1995 IBM. The processor Label that was on the heatsink read 100MHz. Irrelevant, but being the speed it was there was no need for a fan, so I wanted to make use of the heatsink. The heatsink was a perfect size to cut into one centimeter squared increments, which I intend to use as ramsinks on my 9800 pro that is over clocked by 55MHz on core and ram.

I cut 8 pieces out from the aluminum heatsink and going to use thermaltake thermal adhesive tape to connect it on both sides of the on board RAM.

My question is how much more heat dissipation is gained from transferring heat trough heatsinks as opposed to air, rather how much more overclocking do you think can be achieved? I know if you cool the core enough there will be not as much heat tranferring to the ram, I have stock cooling on the card, but two 80mm fans 2cm right under the card spinning a 4800rpms each (fu**** LOUD!!)

Anybody use Ramsinks? if so How are ur results with OC'ing?

We only buy hardware so we can run software on it.

My understanding is ram sinks are pretty much a wastes of time and/or money

Yeah mine too, but i like to have the reassurance there may be that little bit more cooling, so i bought some coolermaster ones.

Surely they cant do any harm, im using them on the memory of my 9600pro, not a problem yet.

Try googling it.

Intel P4 3.00GHZ HT 800MHZ FSB
1.5 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
256MB RADEON 9600PRO
80GB 7200RPM SEAGATE BARRACUDA
10 GB SEAGATE
