I am trying to oc my 2800+ My temps are fine, like in the 40s. My cpu becomes unstable however before i hit 174 on my fsb. The only voltage change my mobo can make is from 1.6 to 1.7. I also bought a nice antec power supply and that didnt help. So my questions are...
How can I get this thing more stable? Is that too much of a voltage jump?

The 2800+ has a 12.5x multiplier so if you're shooting for 200mhz/400FSB, you're probably not gonna make it.
You don't mention your RAM, but you'll need at least PC3200. If you have PC2700, that may be what's holding you back.
"The only voltage change my mobo can make is from 1.6 to 1.7" - that doesn't seem right. Your CPU runs at 1.65v by default...maybe you're looking at the wrong setting?
What motherboard do you have?

Never heard of it. Just did a quick search & found the machspeed site, but there's no manual listed to download.
I'm curious as to why you bought this board rather than a name brand board such as Asus or Abit?

It is one of my favorite brands, usually I just build computers for people to word process on and browse the web, not worrying about oc'ing.
These a good because they offer a lifetime warrenty. I'm not sure but i doubt asus or abit matches that...
Anyway this is my first oc'ing project with anything other than a 2500+. As you know the 2500+ stays stable for a lot longer than the newer xp's.
BTW I did find the manual on google.

Summary: I think that my hdd is fine, its a Maxtor 40 gig ultra-ata 100 @ 7200 RPM. The OCing is what I am really thinking about. I know a lot about computers and stuff(I have taken A+, N+, Cisco, etc...), b...
Summary: Last night I've been oc'ing my XP 2800+ from 12.5x188-37 I get a clock speed of 2350 Mhz, the CPU temp is 56°c and the MB temp's 34°c! I thinking to buy the "Thermalright SLK-900U" to cool down my pro...
Summary: I'm OC'ing my Xp 2000+ for the first time with success, except my on-board sound wont start. It's set to Auto in the BIOS as always so should be working. Is this because I've raised the FSB of the boa...
