I am trying to oc my 2800+ My temps are fine, like in the 40s. My cpu becomes unstable however before i hit 174 on my fsb. The only voltage change my mobo can make is from 1.6 to 1.7. I also bought a nice antec power supply and that didnt help. So my questions are...

How can I get this thing more stable?
Is that too much of a voltage jump?

Thanks in advance for the help.

The 2800+ has a 12.5x multiplier so if you're shooting for 200mhz/400FSB, you're probably not gonna make it.

You don't mention your RAM, but you'll need at least PC3200. If you have PC2700, that may be what's holding you back.

"The only voltage change my mobo can make is from 1.6 to 1.7" - that doesn't seem right. Your CPU runs at 1.65v by default...maybe you're looking at the wrong setting?

What motherboard do you have?

Never heard of it. Just did a quick search & found the machspeed site, but there's no manual listed to download.

I'm curious as to why you bought this board rather than a name brand board such as Asus or Abit?

It is one of my favorite brands, usually I
just build computers for people to word
process on and browse the web, not worrying
about oc'ing.

These a good because they offer a lifetime
warrenty. I'm not sure but i doubt asus or
abit matches that...

Anyway this is my first oc'ing project with
anything other than a 2500+. As you know
the 2500+ stays stable for a lot longer than
the newer xp's.

BTW I did find the manual on google.

Im running my 2800 at 191 fsb and putting out 2388 mh with out any problems. I can get it up to 2414 mh but i becomes a little unstable. Only because i have 512 mb of pc2700. My temps run about 45C normal and 52C full load.
