OS: windows XP
CPU/Ram: A64 3000+/ 1 gig ddr400
Comment:

ok so basically, i am trying to madly OC my A64 3000+ with 939 sockets, and my ram is crappy for OCing, corsair value select.
But i tried the method of lowering my ram to like 166 and then going up from there, got my cpu to about 2.3 gig, and ram was about 210 or somethin i forgot.
Anyways, windows xp would not start after that, and i lowered it to 2.2, still wouldn't start, yet i've heard about people running 2.4 gig stable with this cpu on stock cooling...
BTW my temp was like 29 C when it was 2.3 gig XD, so it wasn't over heating i don't think...
what's wrong :(

you will have to go to 100 for the ram.

also raise the cpu voltage

my 3000+ on a neo2 is at 2.8 stable!

I got my 3000+ winchester to 2565MHz on
that board.
My ram was set to 133(266) MHz and I also
had to set the CAS ratings of the ram
manually. I guess that's your problem
because if you set a lower Ram clock the
board will automatically detect that the
ram ist capable of lower CAS settings at
that speed. If you now OC and the ram clock
raises with it those lower CAS settings
will no longer work.
Set the correct CAS numbers manually as
they are given for 400MHz use and you
should do better.

I have pc4000 so I do not use 100 ram setting but when I did have pc3200 I had to set the ram to 100 but when you fsb is set to 310-320 it will overclcock the ram to much if you ever get an error while booting hold delete and restart your pc all settings will be back at stock.

There so many settings on the neo 2 you will have to play with them all to see what works best for you not all cpu overclock the same. goodluck
