Hi guys, I was just wondering on the exact ins and outs of overclocking this chip.

I currently have:
CPU: K6-2 450mhz
RAM: 415 meg SDRAM
MoBo: Biostar M5ALA v2.0
GFX: Voodoo 3 3000 16meg

I used to have a much better system but for cirtain reasons I had to give it away and now I'm stuck with my old system + a few upgrades (the ram n gfx). I'm currently saving up for some new kit but this will take a few months.

The main reason I want to overclock it is that at the moment it will play Diablo 2 alright theres just a lil bit of choppyness. From the feel of the game just a lil extra power will make it just that lil bit more playable :)

From reading the other threads I see that changeing the FSB and multiplyer is the way forward and I'm going to try these once I've finished moving some stuff across the network. (I'm currently tweaking and customising this comp to my likeing since i have to use it for a few months :/).

I was hoping that someone could post the genral jist of overclocking this chip and any tweaks they know for this system setup. I know my way round the bios/os/hardware pretty well it's just I've never tried over clocking before as usually my computers fast enough.

thanks alot.

You're not gonna get a hell of a lot outta that CPU...you should be able to get it up to 500mhz, but I doubt you'll see a noticeable difference. I think your max FSB is 100mhz & your max multiplier setting is 5.0x...6.0x is a possibility if you set the jumper to 2.0x, but I highly doubt you'll get that 450 to run at 600mhz. I'd recommend a different video card. I'm not a fan of nVidia's MX cards, but since funds are limited, you can get the GF2 MX400 for $33 or the GF4 MX440 for $41 at pricewatch.com.

HAHAHA...it suuuks to be you..i had the EXACT same rig before..so i kno how it feels...well mayb except for different mobos...but everything else is the same..but quite weirdly diablo 2 never lagged for me...try formattin n turnin off everything else..try goen back to win98 if you have to...or just turn off all the extra xp stuff...cause that would have to account for some of the performance lost...
