Comment: I need some help on OCing my old Compaq Presario 5300 PC. It has a Compaq 057Ch motherboard and the Compaq 686C2 BIOS. I have a Celeron 500 with Mendocino core. Ive heard some rumors as to whether overclocking this computer is possible or not. Please, tell me ANY ideas you have as to overclocking this particular configuration.

Reply: (edit)no ideas, because you won't be able to overclock, because it's a compaq... if there's jumpers, dipswitches or bios settings to do so....then you can't

Reply: (edit)the only answer is to update the BIOS and see if it will take a later CPU, overclocking Branded systems is nigh impossible, unless you can manually select what processor is installed, then you would only be able to go up a few mhz....
