Info: AMD Athlon 2600+ 333FSB Barton core with my Ultra 512 DDR400 PC3200 ram and my Soyo KT400 Dragon Ultra (Black). I heard people say they can OC a 2600+ to an equivlent of a 3200+, would this be possible for me with my motherboard? I think my mobo will lock it all up. If i want to increase my cpu FSB from 333 to 400 what extra cooling would i need now, would putting tons of thermal grease on it help? I have a Speeze Socket A/370 Cooling Fan up to XP 2800+. How would i go about doing the OC, increase voltage, FSB, mhz. Im not sure how.

Well you have the right hardware for the overclock. Slowly start raising the FSB in your bios, leaving everything else alone. Monitor your temperatures before and during the overclock!! YOu might wanna get a better CPU fan. Putting lots of thermal grease on is not a good idea, you wanna use a moderate amount and make sure you use a quality brand (Arctic Silver or something like it)! You should be able to bring ur FSB upto 400 mhz (or higher). Make sure u run benchmarking programs and such to check for system stability.

Let us know how this goes!

P.S. -> My cpu (xp2500) has been running at XP3200 speeds (11*200) for a long time now. With an increase of about 2 degrees celcius. It sits at around 47 degrees idle on average, and gets upto 55 degrees at full load.

Thanks alot, ive been on these forums now reading about and i see many people have dumb questions about what 2600. Now i am one, haha :( So i should not touch my multiplier? or isnt that locked. I think my AGP is unlocked so that can be bad, that is why i cant change my multiplier right? So should i get a new cpu fan? Not to many people like Soyo or have a Soyo, are they bad performance/quality. I do not know, im waiting on my PSU and then i can be done building my new computer. I will let you all know how it goes, and i do want to get the FSB to 400Mhz to be insync with my RAM.

i just found out right now also that if i use DDR400 with my mobo and the cpu is at 333 and 400Mhz FSB then the memory will run as PC2700. That sucks, so if i overclock my FSB to 400 to match the ram will it be recognized as PC3200 again, or does it matter? PC2700 and PC3200, is their a big difference?

3200 is meant for 400fsb and 2700 is meant for 333 fsb

I dont know if your motherboard has a pci lock, if it doesnt that can be a problem. Does anyone know if it does? The thing that causes the problems is the FSB.

If it does not have a pci lock you should get to about 185-190 and be fine. I would think your cpu is locked. To find out see if you can boot at a multi of like 10. If it doesnt work then its locked. I dont know what will happen on your board if its locked and you try to boot up with with a wrong multi. On mine you just have to unplug the cord from the wall and then it will reset.

That site should help you to understand the overclocking abilities of the KT400 Dragon Utra. I still do not understand most of it, help!
