tried changing the bus speed from 66 to 100mhz on a perfectly good computer to see if there was a difference in speed,said `yes` to the changes and POOF!! the thing won`t as much as get to POST..lights up,fans run,hdd seems not to be spinning up enough to send a signal to the monitor.Did I burn out something? thanks-joe

you need to reset the CMOS. There maybe a jumper, or take the battery out of teh mobo for a few minutes and turn it back on.

How about more info? You have 500/128 listed for your CPU/RAM so I assume you're talking about a different system? I don't know why people list one & then ask about another without giving details or specs.
You may be able to change the FSB to 100mhz, but you'd have to lower the multiplier...but only if you have an unlocked CPU. Let us know what board/CPU/RAM you're working with & maybe you'll get a better answer

Thanks for the tips guys.. (tried the battery removal initially but a no-go) The jumper done the trick after finding it. Back up and running fine with that fix. Belarc tells me its a PCCHIPS M741LMRT w/128 mem,500mhz celeron processor jam..will take your advice next time. Cheers-joe
