Hey guys. I've seen the posts on this forum and am very impressed with the help given. I am now in need of some help of my own. I have tried to push my AMD 2600+ bus to the 200 that I see everyone else get, but I can't get above 176. Here are my specs:

AMD 2600+ (333fsb, 11.5x I think it's a Barton)
ABIT AN7 mobo
1 gig Corsair PC3200
Thermaltake Volcano 11 Heatsink
Raidmax case w/ 5 fans & 420W PSU
Radeon 9800 Pro

I think that's everything. I can get to 176 bus with 1.719V and Prime95 will run for 8 hours with stable temps of 53C. Any ideas?

Do you have the option of going higher than 176? Maybe you need to update your bios? Im still a noob so im just adding another response so more peaple will look at your post

My Mobo has the option for a 300 bus / 600FSB. This mobo is an OCers dream. When running at 185bus / 1.750V the computer won't even start. I'm running out of ideas

What are your memory timings? If you go to the overclocker forum there are a lot of threads about oc an mobile xp 2600, i have ordered one myself.

Hi,
How old is your cpu...? if it was made before week 39 of year 2003.. the multi will be unlocked but im afraid after that date all bartons are locked..

If it is unlocked ..? lower your multi to x11 and raise your FSB to 200 .. you have nice memory so the memory should not be a problem... so those settings will get you to xp3200 speeds but you should be able to go behond that with that rig..

If it is locked...? your are doing the right thing and 176fsb is all you can get.. some CPU's dont overclock as well as others, its the luck of the draw im afraid..
If you havent got the latest bios ..? upgrade it.. then try again..

Note : you should not have to raise your memory voltage untill you go above its rated speed..ddr400
Also ... make sure your cpu/memory ratio is 1:1/3:3/4:4/5:5/6:6 this ensures that your memory/cpu is running the same speeds.. this will help..

You can raise you voltage a little but i would not go above 1.85v Vcore with your cooling becuase your temps are a little high for the 1.719v you currently have..

Ok. I'm home and ripped the Heatsink off of the processor and got the numbers. They are as follows:

AXDA2600KV4D
1(OR 7)091(OR 7)096A40390
AQXEA0404WPAW

I tried doing the website, and when I put in the ones it came up as an invalid number. when I put in 7's it came up as server not found. The number on the processor looked like ones with out the bottoms, or space-saver 7's (it looks really wierd). According to the motherboard info if my multiplier was locked I would not be able to adjust it. I am able to adjust it, but it freezes every time. Any ideas?

found it. the number was this:

axda26000dkv4d
7097096a40390
aqxea0404wpaw

which said it was made in 2004. I'm assuming that means I'm stuck at 176 bus, right? :( oh well. Looks like I'm buying the AMD 3200+.

I dont think the fsb will go as high as 200(with a locked multi).Barton dont seem to go as high as some of the others.176 is a good fsb, my pal has got a 3000+ and he cant get his fsb beyond 169!

You have PC3200 RAM, so I dont see that as your problem...it should handle 200mhz & really shouldn't need a voltage boost. Stick with default timings though until you find out what's holding you back.

I see your board is an NF7...not NF7-S? What board version? 200mhz/400FSB wasn't officially supported until version 2.0

Raising the RAM voltage certainly wont hurt, but I don't see it as being necessary since all he's trying to do is run it at it's stock speed of 200mhz. If he was trying to overclock to 210-220mhz, I could see the need for it, but not at 200mhz.

Regardless, I don't see RAM as your problem. Either you have an eariler version of the NF7 that doesn't officially support 200mhz/400FSB, or you need to increase your CPU voltage to 1.75, 1.80, 1.85v, possibly higher. You'll have to decide how far you're willing to risk it. Watch your temps!

Not all Bartons are created equal...some will easily hit 3200+ speed, some need a voltage boost, & some simply can't do it. Since your multiplier is 11.5x, it's gonna put your speed at 2300mhz, which is 100mhz beyond that of the 3200+. Remember, it's rated as a 2600+ CPU for a reason...

He has an Abit AN7 which is later than an NF7-s.. AN7s do support 200Mhz/400fsb..

Man, I don't know why, but it won't let me make a post at work. Anyway....

I have the info for my memory here:

2.65V

CAS = 2.5
Row-precharge-3
RAS to CAS - 3
Row Active - 8

I have never messed with memory settings before. What should I set them at to make them "looser?" Also, does anyone else have a hard time posting to this website? it doesn't always go through for me.

"AN7s do support 200Mhz/400fsb.."

Check the Abit website...400FSB support began with board version 2.0. It was not offically supported with versions 1.0~1.2

"The NF7, based on nForce2 chipset (MCP + SPP), supports the latest AMD Athlon XP, Barton™ processors with 200/266/333 FSB, and features new dual 400MHz DDR memory controllers that deliver up to a 50% increase in bandwidth."

But I do not have the NF7 though. I have the AN7. There is a difference. Here is the ABIT website on the AN7:

http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/products.php?categories=1&model=158

And I am willing to try loosening the memory, but I do not know what to set it to. I posted their stats a couple of posts up, but I do not know what to change them to. Any ideas? I'll try bumping up the voltage one more time and seeing what I get. I think it will be to no avail, though. So the memory will be next....

Ok. I can set the voltage to 1.81xx and it runs smoothly at 180 (which is an accomplishment for the processor) but the temps are hitting 57 degrees C when running torture test. According to the website posted earlier it said my processor can hit 85 degrees C. Is it safe to run it that hot under torture or should I accept defeat?
