Reply: (edit)What were your default settings? If you have a plain vanilla 5600, they should have been 325/550. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20031229/index.html Asus A7N8X-X 2500+ Sempron @ 2100mhz 10.5 x 200mhz @ 1.80v 512mb PC3200 Ti4200/8X 128mb WDC 60GB

Reply: (edit)Just looked at the site myself and noticed that it says my default clock speed is 275 / 400. I ahve been able to go up to 325 / 515 stable. Anything after that I get artifacts and it gets choppy. I keep it at 300 / 500 now. Does good and I am happy with it. But now I am curious as to why my default does not match any forums and sites I have visited.

Reply: (edit)I don't know what to tell you. There's nothing listed there about GPU/memory speeds & I have no idea who makes the card so I can't check the manufacturer's website. nVidia doesn't build cards, they only make chips & the FX5600 is designed to run at 325mhz. It's possible that the card manufacturer underclocked the GPU for some reason? If you search for other FX5600 cards, I think you'll find that the GPU runs at 325mhz, though the memory speed may vary depending on what was used Asus A7N8X-X 2500+ Sempron @ 2100mhz 10.5 x 200mhz @ 1.80v 512mb PC3200 Ti4200/8X 128mb WDC 60GB

Reply: (edit)I dont know man, that clock speed sounds low to me with the Geforce FX5600. Aren't those default at 325/550? Even on my Sony Laptop GRT100 series, the 64MB Geforce FX5600go has 275/600 default... I saw like a version of Geforce FX5600 by chaintech, those run for 275/400, is that the one u got? Reply: (edit)Got an 5600xt on games PC, currently its rubbish. What are ppl using to o/c the 5600? I stuck some crucial ramsinks on it the other day, so I might as well clock it up. Anyone got any suggestions for an old CPU heatsink/fan I could replace the standard one 5600 one with? And how I could attach it - got 2 small holes diagonally opposed at the moment.

Reply: (edit)Looks like I got a slow one, lol. My default speeds, on the 5600xt, were 235Mhz core, 400Mhz Memory. I put this up to 266/470 using rivatuner - seems a little smoother in 3D. Ps - Rivatuner detected my 5600xt as 128-bit. Will push it up a bit more later :^) P3-949Mhz 640Mb PC133@146 GeForce4 64Mb PCI 36.5Mhz

Reply: (edit)Ive also had the unpleasant misfortune to have recently purchased a AGPTEK FX5600 from Imagestore.us Except my card is a single head 256mb card. http://www.agptek.com/products/products_detail.php?id=13 Strange thing about it is this: Inspect the card, its a 5600 Inspect the documentation, its a 5600 Cross reference the serial number, its a 5600 Install it, its a 5600xt. WTF? The bios at least is from a 5600xt model since thats what it displays prior to MB post. For those who dont know the xt models are GPUs that failed testing at the plant so were underclocked significantly to be made stable then sold.. the 5600xt performs like a 5200. Any ideas whats going on here? Is AGPTEK ripping people off or what? Id pop off the heatsink and check the numbers on the GPU but Im negotiating with Imagestore.us to get them to give me a refund on it.
