This isnt so much of a question as much as a warning-

I finally got Ntune working on x64 vista ultimate after about a day of fiddling - cause it didnt like my x64 vista.

I managed to slowly OC my cpu to about 2.6ghz then it would start crashing...

Said my ram/north bridge is over voltaged to i fixd that...

and i turned up the cpu fan to keep the temps happy

Well apparently numerous ntunte users experience the same problem i am, The settings dont save after a reboot, so it went beck to stock, or at least i thought...

My Q6600 Hit an astonishing 99c - because the fan speed was set at 1%...

So a note to my fellow Computing.net users - beware of ntune - im not saying its bad for everyone, but it sure scared me - luckily i caught it.

Anyone else have any NTUNE horror stories?

You have an extremely overclockable board. All you needed to do was reconfigure the BIOS settings. It will easily overclock the Q6600 to 3.0GHz & beyond, but you need to know what you're doing. The fact that you're trying to overclock thru software rather than the BIOS tells me that you're inexperienced. You can't blame ntune for that.

I suggest you do some reading:

BTW, I highly doubt your CPU temp was 99C.

jam, you are very correct in my bein inexperienced in overclocking, i just figured sence nvidia made ntune itd be safe, goes to show what i kno.

as for the 99, that no joke. i had just finished installing age of empires 3, and core temp freaked me out, i just jumped up and pulled the plug. didnt wana wait to see what would happen. i did notice the fan not spinning at all, and the 1% speed when i went into the bios. Ever sence then it runs 10 degrees hotter. idle is now at 41 :(
i believe my bios let it go up that high because of ntunes bad changes.
