My cumputer wont display the pre boot post screen no matter what i do it only shows a blank or black screen till windows log on screen pops up I have pushed delete f8,f1,f6;f12 and every other key combo i can think of but still nothing nor will the logo screen show only black
is there something i can do to access the pre boot post screen? (the information that comes up when you first turn on the computer) I cannot access my bios screen to change settings if my post info wont show I have even reset the bios pin but it failed to work im running vista I think it has something to do with bcdedit. it acts like its in hybernation mode or hanging then suddenly the log on screen will pop up could it be my boot config or bcdedit and if so how can i get my boot config back to default so i can once again see that pre boot information Not even my windows disk will open on boot

The post screen comes up prior to the OS loading so whatever the problem is, it has nothing to do with windows.

What's the make/model of your motherboard? Or if it's an OEM system (Dell, Gateway/eMachines, HP/Compaq, etc), what's the make/model of the PC?

BTW, this is not a CPU or overclocking question...you'd probably have better luck in another forum. Try hardware or Vista.

I had this issue (and the opposite) when installing a new video card. Depending on if my monitor was plugged into the graphics card or the on-board video, I would get either the boot screen and no windows, or windows with no boot screen. My fix was in bios, there is a section to change your video to either PCI or AVG. If it is the same problem, you will have to switch your monitor from the card to the on-board video a couple times during your initial video setup.
