hi, I recently removed the processor on my pc and reinstalled it. Now it won't power up at all. The fans don't even start to come on. I checked to make sure the processor was properly seated. I also cleared the BIOS using the jumper. I have an AMD Athlon 1.4GHZ processor with 128 MB DDR ram. The processor is the only thing I removed. Any help would be appreciated.

all i can tell you is to double check all your connections and make sure you didnt damage the chip when you took it out and put it back in. What was the reason to take the chip out? Make sure the atx power connection to the motherboard is seated firmly. Also check the led, soft powerplugs didnt come undone.

all of my connections are good. I took the processor out in order to troubleshoot another system with it. I have other processors laying around and have tried them in the same motherboard and i get the same result. I did briefly turn the system on with no fan or heat sink so i could feel if the processor was getting hot or not. I t did get hot, but then when i turned it off and tried to turn it back on , i only had it on for about 1 second without the heat sink so that shouldn't have fried it. Maybe i fried one of the components on the motherboard.

more than likely then you fried something. some how you need to test the cpu out on a board that you know works. Or find a cpu that you know works and test it on the board. Turning on a system with no heatsink will 99.9% kill it. These cpu's today get really hot real fast and not having a heat sink on it when you crank it up almost always means death to it.
