Hello, i recently cleaned my stock heatsink and fan processor, and i cleaned off the stock thermal goo off of the heatsink and processor chip. Then i applied new artic silver to the processor and put it back in. Now when i turn the computer on, it sounds like its starting up but my monitor light remains yellow, and the screen is black. The processor gone? Or is it something else?

0. Is your video card plugged in and have you reseated it.?
1. Check your RAM sticks, are they snapped in tightly and have you reseated those too?
2. Is your monitor securely connected to the display adapter?

Yes, Yes and Yes. My main question is could the cause of the monitor not displaying any image be caused by a blown processor?

I doubt the processor is FUBAR!, I suspect something is not assembled or plugged in right.

Going from your response, I will suggest you dismantle everything also remove the CMOS battery and reassemble them again with a little more attention to detail and you ought to be good to go.

When you put on your heatsink you could have cracked or chipped the processor if too much force was applied.
