Are you using an FC-PGA to FC-PGA2 converter? If not, that is what your problem is. Even the link you provided in your initial post indicates that you need one. Just to clarify, the Tualatin based CPU's use a different pin layout than the Coppermine based CPU's, the adapter fixes this and in most cases allows the voltage to be adjusted accordingly.

I love my Amiga 500!!!!

Yes of course it will fit, the socket is exactly the same, it's the internal circuitry that is different. And yes, the product in the link you provided is exactly what you need.

I love my Amiga 500!!!!

I got mine from eBay, however, that was a few years ago, keep looking, I'm sure you'll find one as they were very popular back in the day.

What you found in response #9 is a Slot-1 to Socket 370 adapter...that's not what you need. And $50 is a reeediculous amount to invest in this "project" anyway. Why don't you just buy a CPU that's compatible with your board?

You can't just guess at compatibility. You have to dig up your motherboard specs.

In your other thread, the 1st response was made by you & you have a link that plainly shows that you need an adapter to be able to run the 1.4GHz CPU in your Dell. How did you think you were gonna bypass the adapter?

The 2nd link in response number 12 links to the exact same converter I have and have been using for quite some time, it should work for you no problems, for a little under $15, you can't go wrong.

"I purchased this under the impression it would work"

However, you apparently didn't do any research until after you made the CPU purchase & found that it didn't work? No big deal...you only paid what, $9 + shipping? But you could have saved yourself a lot of hassle by looking into which CPUs are compatible with your motherboard ahead of time.
