Comment: Ram and OCing.... I plan on changing the FSB on my new mobo and CPU soltek 75frn2-l and 2500+ barton 333. I'm new so I will slowly raise the speed and hope not to have to tinker too much with voltages... What speed ram should I get? 2700 or the 3200 stuff? I'm a little shakey on ocing but I figure if I up the FSB I up it for the whole board which leaves me a question on what ram to buy.... Part of me thinks if I get 2700 and can boost the board to 400mhz it'll run like 3200 speed? Will just spending $5 more buying 3200 be a better idea? Ok if you can answer that tell me a short story about my vid card!

Reply: (edit)I'm a bit confused...the 2500+ is supposed to run at 166mhz(333) FSB anyway...you wouldn't be overclocking at all. Most people just get PC3200 RAM & jump the FSB right up to 200mhz(400) & run the 2500+ as a 3200+

Reply: (edit)So that in turn boosts the memory speed because the whole board is boosted to 400?

Reply: (edit)Sorry, I misread your original post. For optimal performance, the CPU & memory bus speeds should be the same. PC2700 RAM is designed to run at 166mhz/333 FSB, PC3200 is designed to run at 200mhz/400 FSB. If you wanna overclock your 2500+ to 3200+ by raising the FSB to 200mhz, you'll need PC3200 RAM to pull it off.
