Start by listing your complete specs & what your purpose is for overclocking...better gaming? experimaentation? something else?

Do you know which core your 3000+ is based on? If not, download & run CPUZ:

Those are NOT the complete specs. We need to know the core the CPU is based on, that's why I asked you to run CPUZ. We already know you have an A64 3000+. And you didn't state which RAM you have...DDR200, DDR333, DDR400, etc. You didn't list a video card or power supply or whether your HDD is PATA or SATA. Be specific!

I had my A64 3000+ Venice running at 2.7GHz:

The CPUZ info would have been more helpful but from what you posted above, it looks like you have a Venice core, E6 revision.

http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskt...

And you have PC3200 RAM (DDR400) but the SPD info isn't listed, so I'll hold back on any RAM timing recommendations.

I just had a look at the BIOS chapter of your manual & I didn't see any way to adjust the CPU or RAM voltages or a way to limit the PCIe bus. If they're not there, you're on your own with these settings. If your system locks up or becomes unbootable, simply unplug the power cord & reset the BIOS using the ClearCMOS jumper.

Try these:

Cool 'n' Quiet = disabled

AI Overclocking = manual
CPU FSB frequency = 240MHz
Memclock Mode = limit
Memclock vale = 166MHz
MCT Timing Mode = auto

PCI Spread Spectrum = disabled
HT Spread Spectrum = disabled

LDT (K8) to Geforce 6100 (NB) = 600MHz
nForce 410 to Geforce 6100 (NB) = 600MHz

Plug & Play OS = No

If the above settings work, the CPU will run at 2.4GHz, RAM at 200MHz (DDR400) & the HT bus at 720MHz.

"is that what you needed?"

No. You need to run CPUZ, click on the SPD tab & get the timing info from there. Look at the table...those are the timings that are pre-programmed into the RAM. At 200MHz, it will probably be something like 3-3-3-8 at 2.5v.
