Hey recently i just got a new CPU and put i installed it. I had the computer running weeks ago i had it runing and working fine untill i put in this new CPU. I am sure that i installed it correctly and everything. Now when i start up i get nothing but a black screen and no beeps no nothing. What could be the problem. I even put in yet another CPU to see if it was just a bad one but still no luck. Any suggestions would be great. I'm thinking it may be the motherboard but i dont know. Again the only thing i see on the monitor is in the middle it says, "cable connector attatched?" As if the monitor was not pluged into the graphics card but it is!

Thanks again.

Hmm....that's weird. I don't know...maybe you ESD'd the mobo while you were handling it. Are you getting the usual single beep on startup? If so, you may have damaged your video card... I'm not sure...

I Think BillyBob knows his safety. ESDing is really easy if you got carpet or maybe you damage the pins what can i say i have killed a 256 mb stick of ram before from esd .

A 266 FSB board should support 1800+ since by Old kt133 supported the 1700+. You might want to try your luck on a BIOS upgrade.

OK, my question is, why did you replace an 1800 with an 1800? You said it had been running fine until the swap...why did you make the swap if it had been running OK & you didn't upgrade? It should have fired right up with out changing any of the settings. I'd double check all your settings, connections & reseat all your cards...maybe something got disturbed when you swapped CPUs. If that doesn't help, try clearing CMOS with either the onboard jumper or pull the battery.
