New CPU running Half Speed

Specs: Windows XP
Thanks for the help in advance.

My computer is fairly old so i figured i would upgrade the parts to get it running like new again.

MS 6526 Mainboard
Intel pent. 4 cpu speed 2.4 ghz
System Memory: 1271 MB

My previous CPU was 1.8 ghz, i swapped that out for the new 2.4 ghz the max my board supports. Now when i run CPU Speed Professional it says CPU is only running at 1.2

Can anyone PLEASE help me out!
i tryed accessing my BIOS but the FSB and everything is Locked.

Any ideas?

Notice the motherboard specs: "FSB 400MHz". There's no mention of any other FSB being supported. My guess is you got an 800MHz FSB CPU which obviously would run at 400MHz other words, 1/2 speed.

Also, 2.4GHz isn't the max supported: "Support 1.3GHz to 2.4GHz or higher speed P4 processor"
