Subject: need help with my CPU/MainboardOS: Win2KCPU/Ram: XP2000+/256 DDR 333 |
Comment: Sometimes when I turn on my pc, especially when its still cold, soon after I turned it on it shuts down itself and when I turn it on again the system startup screen displays me the following message: "Host clock or ratio programming fail previously!" then i go into the bios and have to correct my fsb from 100 to 133 and then it runs correctly! Has anyone an idea what this can be or where this might come from? I searched everywhere in the internet to find out what the problem is, but I found no solution anywhere! Thanks for your help! P.S.: I got my XP 2000+ running on an epox EP-8K9A with Samsung Cl2,5 RAM

Reply: (edit)Most likely an overheating problem. Remove the cover from your case to see if that helps. If it does, then you probably need to get a better cooler for your cpu and/or a case fan. It's not a good idea to continue running with the case cover removed.

Reply: (edit)It can't be an overheating problem, because i get this error only when my pc is cold, and my CPU never gets over 56°C and i think that temperature is not to high! And the second thing is that i get this error only sometimes, perhaps once a week!

Reply: (edit)I have a very similar problem with my system, but it only happens when overclocking. I also have 256MB of Samsung PC2100 RAM. It makes no sense because it only happens when my system has been off for a while. *confused*
