Comment: Hi. I currently have a Compaq presario 5000 series, it has a700mhz duron CPU in it, and from what I found i think its called a spitfire(?) motherboard. I was wondering whats the best CPU I could upgrade too. And what makes them compatible or not? I was under the impression if the socket type was the same then anything would work. Will anyting work, just not up to par or something? Sorry im kinda new at this, thanks for any help.

Reply: (edit)The compaq website has a pretty good q&a deal. I think your board will support up to an athlon 1400 at 200fsb, not the one at 266fsb.
