there are the specs.

i'm using btf90 from zerotherm as my cpu cooler

tried to push it more but it freezes any advice?

is it better to have the multiplier higher or lower?
should i push the fsb to 1333?

safe core voltage?

also why does windows say that i'm running at 3.20?

You didn't provide all your specs. What about your RAM, PSU, video card, etc? The CPUZ screenshot shows your multipler as 9x, it should be 11x. If you still have SpeedStep (aka EIST) enabled, disable it!

When overclocking an Intel system, there's two important things to keep in mind:

1. the optimal FSB:DRAM ratio is 1:1** (see note)
2. the higher the FSB, the better the performance.

For example, here's 3 possible settings that will run a CPU at 2.0GHz...the last one will perform best because of the fastest FSB:

10 x 200MHz (800MHz FSB)
7.5 x 266MHz (1066MHz FSB)
6.0 x 333MHz (1333MHz FSB)

Also, here's the FSB:DRAM combinations for a 1:1 ratio:

800MHz FSB : DDR400
1066MHz FSB : DDR533
1333MHz FSB : DDR667
1600MHz FSB : DDR800

In other words, if you're running the FSB at 1066MHz but you have DDR2-800 RAM, you should manually lower the RAM setting in the BIOS to DDR2-533.

**NOTE: sometimes the FSB:DRAM ratio is referred to as 2:1. This is because the numbers being used for comparison are the data rates, not the frequencies. 1066MHz:533MHz (2:1) is the same as 266MHz:266MHz (1:1).

Screenshots but no explanation?

The 1st one shows your CPU multipler as 9x & your CPU frequency as approx 292MHz. Either CPUZ is reporting the multiplier incorrectly, or SpeedStep kicked in & lowered it to 9x, or you manually set it at 9x.

The 2nd & 3rd ones show that your RAM is in single channel mode (why?) & that it's frequency is at 333MHz even though the default is 400MHz. That puts the FSB:DRAM ratio at 292:333 which is roughly 7:8. Ideally, it should be 333:333 or 1:1. Raise the FSB to 1333MHz.

Then there's the video card & PSU. The video card is low end & uses DDR2 memory so it's not much of a gaming card. Lucky for you it is low end card because your PSU is an el-cheapo unit. The specs aren't very good & it doesn't have all the power plugs required by a modern system. Higher end video cards require a 6-pin PCI-e plug & your PSU doesn't appear to have any. If you look at the model number (LC-8460BTX), LC = L & C TECHNOLOGY. They're notorious for making poor quality units.

Let me explain alot better cause i haven't

i no longer i have those settings...

i have these

http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?...

http://img184.imageshack.us/my.php?...

Now as you can see from the picture i have 2 rams with different speeds

why?

a friend gave me one for free so i took it.

from what i hear that brings my 800mhz ram down to its 666 mhz

why i have it on single channel?

i hear you can't put two different rams on dual channel

also, i know i have a crappy psu and video card. This was my first pc that i built and i was poor at the time.

i have my ps3 so could care less about the video card.

that is why i have the settings i have now... if my settings are not right please let me know, would much appreciate it

What is it that you're trying to do? You now have the CPU running at it's default speed (11 x 266MHz) & apparently have the RAM running at 333MHz? That makes the ratio even worse...now it's 266:333 (4:5).

I don't know how far you wanna push the CPU so how about this: set the CPU multi to 9x, raise the FSB to 1333MHz & leave the RAM setting on AUTO (or 667MHz). That way, the CPU will run at 3.0GHz with a ratio of 1:1. If you wanna run the CPU at a higher clock speed, try the multiplier at 9.5x, 10x, 10.5x. Be prepared to increase the CPU voltage. Also, make sure to lock the PCI-e at 100MHz & if there are any Spread Spectrum settings, disable all of them.

i tried the settings you said and it didn't post. i even up the voltage one step at a time and stopped at 1.55 since i don't want to go higher and still nothing not even a xfx logo...

UPDATE: 12/23 1:06AM

Well i just turned on sync mode so now its always at 1:1 ratio. not 1333 but 1200 had to put the multiplier at 10 ram at 600 which leaves it underclocked by 66mhz but w/e. So far i was able to type this message lol i have prime 95 probly run it later on in the day

my goal was to push my pc as far it can go "stable wise" on air and with the stuff that i have. Maybe it can go farther and i'm just doing stuff wrong (most likely) but (for now) i see a big difference in performance and i'm happy.
