Hi all,

I just upgrade my cpu from 1.8ghz to 3.0ghz. However, the new CPU only read 1.5ghz. Any idea how to make it 3.0ghz? Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

studia

You bought the wrong CPU to begin with. Your board only support 533Mhz FSB but you bought the 800Mhz FSB CPU. The best thing can happen to you in this case would be 133 x 15 = 2ghz... So my suggestion for you is to return the CPU if possible...

Your wasting a good CPU on an old board. Why would it be so hard for you to return?

Your CPU is currently running at 15 x 100MHz (1.5GHz), but it's supposed to run at 15 x 200MHz (3.0GHz). To get it to run at 2.0GHz, you'll need to change the settings to 15 x 133MHz. This is most likely done in the BIOS.

or just go buy a Socket 478 motherboard that can support 800mhz bus. I mean hell they are cheap now.
