The ratio is the same as the multiplier. Since you didn't mention the CPU, I have no idea if 8.0x is right or wrong...if it's in reference to your P4 1.7, it doesn't make any difference what you set it to, the CPU locks the multiplier & changing the setting will have no effect...

Your ratio should be set to default, which should be 17 (P4 1.7Ghz). The only way to overclock your CPU is via the FSB and be very careful since you can't lock your AGP/PCI bus, you don't want to just jump to 133mhz if you want your PC to remain stable.

My cpu is 1.70ghz and it acts real slow on some games, would that be why? the multiplier on 8.0x it goes up to 24x max

Your multiplier is factory locked, change it the heck you want and it won't make a darn difference. If your games are running slow run a thorough chkdsk, defrag your drive and get a better graphics card.

Sometimes the best news is bad news.

1. right click on the shortcut or executable file for your game

2. click 'properties'

3. click the Compatibility tab

4. under 'compatibility mode', set it to Windows 95

5. check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for"

6. click APPLY
