Im not good at hardwares and stuff, but i figured out that something is wrong. I started a program Motherboard Monitor 5 and I tested my computer. It said that my CPU speed is 2130 MHz, i thought that cant be right I at least know what pocessor i bought. Then 30 minutes later after playing some games, I couldnt take that out of my head so i checked again and it said that my speed is 2030 MHz. Every time i check lower speed comes up, and my computer goes kinda slow. I found about this about 10 minutes before i wrote this... Please help, and 1 more question, if i somehow stop my speed from going down to 0, can i get my 3000 MHz back. Thanks for your time...

Nothing is wrong. Two 3000+ XP processors exist. Default speeds are 2100Mhz and 2167Mhz.
You can't get 3000Mhz back because you never had it to lose.
Skip

And with the Athlon64 you have the real speed is even lower.
It's 2000MHz for the old Athlon 3000+ with Newcastle core and 1800MHz for the newer one with Winchester core! The 3000+ only means it runs about as fast as a Pentium4 3000MHz!
Why do you say it's running slow?
I ask because that system should run quite well. The best is you give us a full system description!

But cant you get it....? my speed is smaller every time i test it.. it came down from 2100 to 1700 now, and is geting lower... It is going down for about 50-80 MHz every time i turn it on.

It's prob a glitch within the software program itsled, my suggestion would be to find another monitor and check it like you have been checking this one, also, uninstall this one, and run a spy/adware program, and do a virus check, maybe this thing came with a virus, and that everytime you open it, it does something else to the computer.

Athlon64 3000+ runs at 2000mhz
Don't trust MBM5...look in your BIOS, watch your boot screen, or try CPUZ

I tested with all kind of programs, and with FF game config, and it all said one thing- my speed is geting lower and lower...
I can even feel how my computer is slowing down... Plus it started to work slower! After a 2-3 hours my computer is barely working, i cant even open some wordpad document without waiting.... Im gonna open my computer and check if my cooler is working because, i think that it might be overheating, cuz i heard that if your processor is overheated, it automaticly reduces the speed trying to reduce temperature.... But i dont know if there is a limit to that reducing... I dont want it to get down to zero.....

Check your BIOS settings.
Check the multi and the fsb.
Some off these tester progs can incorperate a mild clocking feature.maybe your fsb/multi is being decreased a bit at a time?
Make sure you have completely removed the progs aswell.
Check the ram settings also.

OK now.... My computer is steady cuz i re-installed windows... Now it just stands on 2050 MHz. But that means that AMD is worthless peace of trash, and with money i paid for it, i could buy some decent Pentium, which doesnt says that runs on 3000 and actualy runs at 2000... what a robery! Why is that so anyway?

First off, if i could travel over the internet, i'd travel to where you are right now and slap you.
BASICS OF AMD VS. INTEL:
Amd is better than intel, even though it works on a slower clock rate, the clock rate is not the only factor.
Amd uses a different set of instructions for their processors which have turned out to be better then intel. SO......the instructions that AMD uses handle the information better in and out of the CPU and they have more Instruction Per Second then intel. Also, AMD (the one you have at least) is a 64-bit processor, thus making more room for more i/p/s.
Basically, AMD uses MMX instructions sets, and intel (p4) Uses SSE instruction sets.

Check response 2!!!
Are you using xp 32bit or xp 64bit?

I agree fully with David.
An think about the Pentium4 Prescott who just turns 115W into heat only to run so he need loud and massive cooling to handle that.
More MHz doesn't mean necessarily that you have more computing power. If you can do the same at a lower clockrate that not only saves power but also a lot trouble with overheating. And because you had some trouble with your windows installation (sounds like a virus or something like that) doesn't mean the cpu is bad!

I second the motion!
Gunblade,
AMD's way of handling instructions is more efficient than Intel's, therefore AMD CPUs can accomplish the same amount of work as an Intel CPU, but at a lower clock speed. AMD had to "performance rate" their CPUs because of people like you, who buy based on MHz alone!
I suggest you trade your A64 in for a P4, you're not worthy! LOL

I'm just amazed that God let Gunblade have a computer. This is a good argument for divine intervention or at least for drowning the runt of the litter.

OK now....again... So what you say is that AMD Atlon 3000+ runs at 2000 but still is better than Pentium4 Prescott which runs at 3000.... So AMD is better, thats all I wanted to hear.....

Nevermind anyway.. I think that he is better than Intel because I have him...
But ive got another problem:
Ive already wrote this but i didnt get anything so im doing this again-
Sometimes after playing my computer for about an hour, i starts to mess up, speed goes down to critical situation... I can barely open just anything without waiting at least 5 minutes, even picures! Game are going slow, sometimes even stop, and then continues and so on... But it hapend at the same time as something hapend to my RAID conroler. When ever I turn computer on, after windows load, it shows me message that it needs to install RAID. I insert my CD that i got, and everything starts to install, and after it finnishes i must restart computer. I do so, but it asks me again to install RAID. Plus at the same time when i turn computer and while it is loading in DOS it says that there is no IDE controllers..... PLZ HELP.The force is with you.....
And also my Gunblade in your head......

Consider urself slapped by a 3rd person! LOL!
AMD are better!
Any way ....
about your RAID problem :
As I underatand it RAID drivers need to be
installed DURING windows setup for them to
work at all, so installing them afterwards
could be messing with your PC
Also how many drves do you have in your
system?
Merry Christmas!

Im getting the same sortof problem, i know my processor was running very hot (AMD 3200+ barton @ 400mhz) and every time i boot up, the boot up screen says 1000 mhz or 1600mhz. or somewhere along them lines, and im sure the boot up screen used to say 3200 mhz. i know my cpu is running very hot and im taking it to a repair shop to get looked at this weekend. i also know that 3200+ are supposed to run at about 2.2ish (or thats what it used to say when i ran dxdiag). if i run it now it says its a 3.2 running at 1gig! whats going on there?
Please dont slap me, lol

the only problem that i see with all these posts is that you are all missin the point,512 megs of ram is just not enough, your playing games, you have antivirus, firewalls spy sweepers and god knows what running at the same time, u slow down after a couple of hours of playing.
Personally i would add more ram and also check the ram that i have
and stop trashing, amd.
i hate computers!
but cant help myself....

Hey, stop this nonsense bickerin' over slapping people... have some respect for intel. If it wasn't for intel competition, AMD wouldn't have gotten half as far as it is today. I am neutral on the stupid Intel vs AMD thing, I respect both sides equally, and if some people think AMD sucks, be it so - it's their opinion.
Peace out, guys
There are two types of people in this world: lazy people and stupid people.
Stupid people are too dumb to be lazy.
Lazy people find creative ways to be lazy, therefore improving brain power
