OS: Which one???
CPU/Ram: Which one???
Comment:

I've just been sitting here thinking about my computers, of the 20 or so I have, four are in regular use, an overclocked Athlon 2500+ based machine (mine), a Celeron 900 based machine (the missus's), another Celeron based machine (firewall/caching proxy) and a Commodore Amiga 3000D. And you know which one gets used more than any other??? Bet you can't guess, ah fudge it, I'll tell you, the Amiga 3000. Don't ask me why, but this machine is my true pride and joy, I have hundreds (if not thousands) of games for it, I can do pretty much anything with it, heck I'm even posting this message from it, sure its OS isn't as pretty as XP, but its still extremely useful. Plus its almost 15 years old and still runs like new, even the missus loves to use it. I would sit with my Athlon for hours overclocking, and while I did have a good time, it still didn't do as much for me as a few hours tinkering with my Amiga. Anyway, don't know what prompted me to post this, but hey, I just wanted to share my thoughts. May peace be upon you all :-)

Yo' 'Dude... Hey! Throw some of that "peace" you got my way, okay? I got two teen-agers, etc. :0)

Good for you. Enjoy your Commodore. It is a touch with your younger years, enjoyable memories, and a great lesson to us all. After a while we get so hysterical about squeezing every tic of clockspeed that we have units that are far overpowered for what we need to run on them!!

Nice Post. Keep up the good work.

Deep breathing you two. Dont make me sit you in the corner.

Anyways, ComputerDude929 I know what you mean. I have an old computer (though it isnt quite 15 years old) and I love tinkering with it and seeing what it is capable of. After loosing my temper and hiding my computer from myself to stop me from destroying it, the old Cyrix 6x86 will run smoothly and cool me down and make me ready to deal with my main system again. It dosent make me think of my young years like ranchhand said because I am one of those 16 year old teenagers also. But its just nice to stuff around with.

PS what sort of blazing internet speeds would you get from that Commodore? heh

@Mattwizz3

Well the A3000 is conneceted to my LAN via an X-Surf2 ethernet card along with the Miami TCP/IP stack, because of all the little hacks and mods that I've made, the machine is surprisingly fast, I have seen anything up to 300KB/s which is, IMO, quite acceptable.

Speaking of old, I still have a working Atari 800 and a 520st. I learned how to code in machine lang on the 520st. Ah the old days of bbs's and good friends being impressed by you having 48K of ram.

I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid...

Yeah, they used to have a pic, but when they rebuilt the site they took it off, if I get time I'll try and track one down. Its amazing how fanatical some of the C64 users can be.
