This is very annoying when system(tower) is called CPU. U should write like this "My P3 system shows that HDD not installed while the HDD is installed. How to fix the problem?"

Make sure IDE is enabled in BIOS, make sure jumper is set correct(if it's alone set it to master), try to swap both data and power cable, try to change channels(from primary to secondary or from secondary to primary), also make sure 80wires ide cable is used.

The poster just wants to get his hard drive going. He doesn't care whether its a CPU, motherboard, or modem the HDD is connected to. And that's just fine, as long as we know what he means. Not everyone wants--or has the time--to be a computer geek.

At least kuwese gave ananthatyr some help.

If you added a brand new hard drive as additional storage, you have to initialize it in Disk Management before it will show up in My Computer:

HTPC | Pentium M @ 2.82GHz, 2MB L2) | 4GB | 1.0TB | Radeon HD5750 | Blu-Ray
Win 7 Pro | HDMI out to Onkyo TX-SR707 receiver & Samsung Series 5/63"
