Comment:

just added a gainward geforce 6800gt & am getting 3d mark of 5100 I think I got nearly 10000 with slower memory/2400xp & xfx geforce 5700 ultra. cpu seems to be running Ok & I've got the graphics card at 400/1100. Any ideas to speed things up? Half-life 2 is a little jerky at times!

I dont know about your 3d score being low but HL2 is awaiting a patch to fix stuttering in sound and graphics. Its not your systems fault.

Are you sure you are comparing scores using the same version of 3DMark? Each new version is geared toward the current high end cards. In other words the same card will score lower with newer versions of 3DMark. For example here are my scores:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Nvidia GeForce FX 5900

3DMark2001SE 13508
3DMark03 5271
3DMark05 1011

Wow, I got 13932 with 3DMark2001SE.

I have a GeForce FX 5800.
My CPU is a 2500+ Barton overclocked to 3200+. I didn't have my GPU overclocked. I had the res. set to the default in 3DMark2001SE. I should try overcolocking it and see what I can get.

your pc is only as strong as its weakest link, it could be that the system needs more power than it is getting or that it just isnt compatible with your current motherboard

Power loss usually causes crashes.

An incompatibility is the most likely cause of
jerkyness.
