Comment: Im getting concerned since my NB temps are getting higher and higher. When I first build my system 2 months ago, the NB temp was aorund 35-40C on idle. Now, even though my room temp is only 20C, the idle is 51C. The system temp is 28 and the CPU is 42C. The CPU temp seems to be getting higher since at idle 2 months ago it was around 35C. But I think it is just because of the weather. Any ideas? thnx

Reply: (edit)You might reseat your nb heatsink. It might have come loose or it may not have thermal compound under it. Some makers put two-way tape there which does not work well.. btw your nb does not have a thermal diode so you must be talking about your mobo temp, not your nb temp. The mobo temp probe is certainly affected by a hot nb, but it might also be due to a hot vid card or airflow restriction.

Reply: (edit)well, my vid card temps are around 36C, so I dont think that the card is the problem. Im using msi's corecenter program to check the temps, and have an msi 865pe-neo2 ls mobo. The comp HAS BEEN moved around a bit as of late (ive moved), so is it posssible that something is not correctly placed or has been misplaced? thnx

Reply: (edit)Usually the cpu sink is what gets disturbed when you move the pc. I would open the case with the pc on and make sure all fans are spinning, and also grab any sink to make sure it has not come loose.
