ok so i just bought all this great stuff,
i don't have it at the moment its in the process of being shipped
but i was reading the online manuel (i downloaded it) and it says their's a jumper to set the FSB of the processor 100/133/166/200
with the motherboard i have now i don't have to set a jumper for the FSB
so my questions is could i make my 2500+XP barton run at 200mhz fsb?
which would clock it to if it were a 400mhzfSB which would be awesome cuz this board supports 400mhz fsbbut anyways i was just wondering
any advice would be helpfulTHANKS IN ADVANCE
Daniel

btw the ram i bought is xms corsair low latency pc3200 ddr400
also the specs on this board are out of this world
sorry for the long post lol
i'm just excited and can't wait to get it all!!!thanks in advance
Daniel

unless your VERY lucky i doubt it would post at 200 * default multiplier. if that board allows the multiplier to be lowered you've got a better chance of reaching that speed. Most XP2500 bartons i see on overclocking sites will post at 11 * 200.
good luck with it all.

Hi Daniel
You might be able to do it, I pushed my XP 2400+ to 200FSB with a multiplier of 10, ran for a while and I got some really good scores, but sadly it was very unstable. However, I didn't modify my voltages in any way, so a few people were amazed I even got it to POST. Just be careful, you don't want to BBQ your new system.

put if i tried to run the processor at 400mhz fsb it wouldn't hurt it would it?
i eman the worse than can happen is it will not postand ya i got enough cooling no worries on that

By all means try it, but don't blame anyone but yourself if you do turn it into an expensive and rather charred paper weight. If you do try it, make sure you drop your multiplier first. Looking at the mobo's model number I would say that it is an nForce2 board, just a word or warning, make sure your RAM timings are spot on, otherwise you will be forever resetting your CMOS.

No, do not try to go from default settings straight to fsb200. As said above, lower the multiplier before setting the fsb to 200. The main oc'ing risk comes from not doing things an inch at a time.

You have great taste in hardware;)
We have the same mobo, same processor, and the same memory*! Not only that we want the same thing, a 200MHz fsb:)
Don't advise that you try this but I did kick it up to 11x200. It would halfway POST but would reboot after testing memory, wouldn't go through the PCI info. Also tried 10x200; it would POST but Windows XP wouldn't load. I have been able to run at 12.5x166 (same as 2800+) without problem. Guessing 13x would run as well but thats no fun without a 200fsb, i have recently learned;)
Ya should look at the amdmb.com forums, have a thread about this very subject.
