I am going to put together a PC using the MSI Wind Barebone (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856167032&Tpk=N82E16856167032). It says it has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom. But is this the 64-bit Atom? I know there's 3 (according to Wikipedia) models of the processor.

The Atom N230 is apparently 64-bit. I'd assume it is this one since it is claimed to be the "nettop (desktop)" edition of the processor.
Then we have the Z530 for MIDs and the N270 for netbooks. Both of those are 32-bit.

Am I right in assuming this has the N230 inside?

If you can live within it's extreme limitations, I guess you can't beat it for the price? If you look at the product page, it says:

"CPU: Intel® 1.6GHz Atom™ processor on board
FSB: CMOS, 533 MHz, 32-bit address"

http://www.msicomputer.com/product/...

And on the wikipedia site, it states, "All models do not support: Intel 64 (Intel's x86-64 implementation)"

Not true. The first processor on that list, the N230, says it DOES support x64.

I realize that, but where does it say the CPU in that system is the N230? Even so, what difference would it make if it's 32-bit or 64-bit? What do you expect to run that would require 64-bit computing?

It doesn't. Otherwise I wouldn't be here.

I agree with jam what diff does it make if it's 64bit? It's not like you will be able to run anything smoothly if it was on a 64bit platform. You are much better off getting an Athlon 64 2000+ it not only beats the Atom in performance but it also beats the Atom in power consumption as well. Not to mention it's not binded to a socket like the Atom is.
