Comment: OK, here is the problem I am having. I ran this board fine for like 6 months with a 1.3ghz cpu. Ran like a dream.. no problems what so ever. I upgraded to a 1.7ghz and it started running hot.. even after going back to the 1.3ghz chip. Tried checking the bios setting but everything there seems to be in order. My power supply is 300 watts. I'm wondering if this could be the problem as i am also running 2 hard drives, 2 dvd drives, and a total of 5 case fans as well as my AGP video card and network cards. Also it's worth noting this system runs the rambus memory chips... 4 of them. Not entirely sure if it's the power supply or if i should try a new cpu fan and heatsink first or try swapping the power supply... any ideas? My motherboard is model MS-6339 made by MSI.

Reply: (edit)Check to see if your, fans are even in the intake and exhaust. also dust your dream machine off, and check the Cpu cooler to see if it has collected a few dust bunnies in that six months. Good air in bad air out. just like breathing you dont wanna rebreath your own air to long. E=MHZ

Reply: (edit)Personally, I don't know why you'd invest any money in a socket 423 board, but it's your money. Hopefully you got the CPU cheap. When you make a statement like, "I upgraded to a 1.7ghz and it started running hot", it would be helpful if you provided the temperature readings.
