So I have tried to check my mobo temperature using about 4 software programs, including Sandra. I have no mobo temperature in my BIOS, which is on a Shuttle AV49V with Pheonix. Anyway, sometimes the temperature will be about 40F, sometimes 130F, and wildly fluctuates all over the place. My room is about 70F. My CPU sits nicely at about 28-29C.
I don't think cooling is a real issue, as i have a 120mm x 120mm fan blowing in the front and another blowing out the back. and I have a very nice heatsink and fan on my CPU.
Is there a way to get an accurate/stable reading of my mobo temperature, or is my BIOS not good enough to do this? I have updated my BIOS, but no difference.
Do you think it's a better idea to monitor the case temperature by installing a temp sensor, rather than relying upon a crazy mobo temp sensor?

Thanks for any help!

let me clarify - I can't see a mobo temp in my BIOS, but I CAN see a mobo temp when I use temperature monitor programs such as Sandra and Motherboard Monitor. The problem is, the temperature these programs display fluctuates wildly with a range of like 100 degrees F

Something's not right...28-29C for CPU temp is almost unheard of...& normally, the system temp is lower than the CPU temp. You may wanna look into a BIOS flash, or do a search to see if others are having the same problem

28-29C for CPU temp is possible by using the same measurement as in most AXP boards - themister. P4 temp reporting sucks.

If BIOS does not show system temp; you cannot get it from any software because the sensor is not there.

here is a picture of my motherboard monitor reporting temps...
as you can see, the cpu averages 27C while the case averages 32C, but you can also see that the case temp bounces all over the place.

Going by that MBM pic, I wouldn't trust anything it tells you...look at the voltage readings!

+3.3v averages 1.77v?

+5v averages 3.70v?

+12v averages 8.01v?

Something's not right. Don't trust it! Doesn't MSI provide it's own monitoring program?

Unfortunately I have a Shuttle board, not MSI.
My BIOS shows regular voltage readings. I think one of the issues is that none of these programs have the Shuttle AV49V as a possible board selection.
My BIOS CPU temp reads about 28 to 30C consistently at idle, which sounds about right. I may install a digital temp sensor on my mobo close to my RAM. just to get a semi-reliable reading of mobo-area temps. Is there a different place I should mount the sensor on the mobo?
thanks for all the help

MBprobe works better than MBM, at least for my machine. All is good now...
