Mother board temp limits

OS: XP Pro
CPU/Ram: 2.8 P4 Northridge/1Gig Ra
Model/Manufacturer: Intel P4
Comment:
Wondering if anyone can suggest the highest temp I can run an Asus P4GE-V motherboard w/o cutting it's lifespan short. This is not speced in the manual. Due to some furniture changes the PC is now in an enclosed cabinet (with ventilation holes), and idles at 42deg C. Now have 2 fans (front and rear), but adding 2nd fan did not do much. Short of removing side panel and plasting a seperate house hold fan broadside, I can't get the temp down. Am I ok at this mobo temp? Thanks.

Generally, putting a PC in an enclosure is never a good idea. 42C is a bit warm for a case temp but what should be of more concern is the CPU temp...how much of a jump did that take?

If the case must stay where it is, you might wanna consider installing an exhaust fan in the rear of the cabinent. BTW, removing the side panel defeats the purpose of having case fans.
