just curious, do the mobile pentium processors have a varying clock rate. My laptop will run at 66,100,166,183,200,or full speed at 266 MHz depending on what im doing. just wondering if its supposed to do that thanx

I, too have a PII 266 Toshiba. How do you know what speed the CPU is running at various time and program you use.
Almost all laptop has speed adjustment so that it can prolong battery life by reducing CPU voltage. Therefore, it reduces the CPU speed. But, I like to find out the detail knowledge of the speed you outlined.

I just clicked on the Direct X dialog box (Direct X 8.1) and it tells your CPU speed and type. Ive caught it as low as 33 MHz!
