Comment:
I just bought a 512MB stick of PC3500 memory which on the package states DDR 433. My FSB is running at 533mhz. But in my BIOS it says My memory is running at 333Mhz! How do I get my memory running at 433Mhz. Is it even possible with my setup?

It depends on your motherboard. It may not be able to set the dram clock higher than 166, which would result in your ddr running at 333. Check the manual.

It's capable of setting it. I can overclock the FSB, and the dram clock follows along with it. Do I basically need an 800Mhz FSB CPU in order to achieve PC3500 (433Mhz) speeds?

If you are sure you cannot adjust the dram clock without increasing the cpu fsb, then you might as well see how high the cpu can be overclocked.

865 and 875p motherboards will set the ram at ddr333 when you have a 533mhz fsb cpu. Only way to get it up to 400 is to turn the fsb in the bios up to 160mhz..at the same time overclocking the cpu.
With 800mhz fsb cpu it boots up at 400 and will get to ddr433 at 216mhz fsb around.
Summary: Hi, I have a question that relates to the memory speed to buy if you intend to overclock a cpu. For example, you buy a barton processor with 333 fsb. Ram with Pc2700 (333 mhz) would match perfectly if...
Summary: xp guy is right. Today's CPUs run plenty fast enough, the performance bottleneck is in the memory bandwidth. The biggest gain in performance will be seen by increasing your memory speed, not your CPU ...
Summary: Is there a setting in the BIOS for memory speed? It would be something like Host Clock +/- 33 or Host Clock +/- PCI Clock? Host Clock = FSB, so if your FSB is 133, you should set your memory speed to ...
