Ok ive been trying for like an hour but cant figure it out, i have the asus striker extreme MB..and pny xlr8 memory which is suppose to support 1200Mhz memory if it is sli ready, and mine is but i cant seem to get it to 1200Mhz the highest i got it to was 800Mhz. Any Ideas?

Your CPU runs at 9 x 266MHz by default but you're apparently running it at 9 x 333Mhz. Your RAM frequency should also be run at 333MHz to match the CPU frequency, that way the CPU & RAM will run in sync.

So regardless of the fact that you have PC2-6400 (aka DDR2-800) which has a deafult frequency of 400MHz, it should be underclocked to 333MHz. I don't know where you're coming up with 1200MHz?

I got the 1200Mhz from the motherboard specs.. it says that if i have sli ready memory it can run at 1200Mhz i know the default for the memory is 4-4-4-12 at 800Mhz. But i messed with it again and i finally got up to 1120 but had to change the timings to 5-5-5-15 and the voltage to 2.2v and everthing seems to working fine i ran 3dmark06 again and gained about 250marks. Oh and now my fsb:ram is 3:5.

Heres the link where it says sli memory 1200Mhz.

What is the point of running the RAM at 1120MHz (560MHz frequency) if your CPU frequency is only 333MHz?

What you should do is lower your CPU multiplier so you're able to run the CPU frequency at 400MHz, then set your RAM at it's default speed of 400MHz. That way you'd have a 1:1 ratio.

This may shed some light on problems with overclocking that particular board:

ok well thanks for the info... ive been tryin to get 1:1 ratio like u said so i put the fsb to 375 and the multiplier to 8 so im running at 3ghz and my mem is 375 (750) to so therefore 1:1 but everytime it restarts it gets to windows then after about 2 mins i get the blue screen and it restarts again... my vcore voltage is currently 1.4v and my memory is 2.0v. But actually i want to get to 3.2ghz if possible and keep the memory at least 800mhz with 1:1 ratio. but when i do 400 like u said and put the mem to 400 it restarts and doesnt even boot back up. Im not sure if its the voltage but im thikin it is i just dont wanna go to high and fry somethin...so what exact setting would i need it to be as in voltage, multiplier im thinkin would be 8 to get 3.2ghz. Neways thanks jam for helpin me out so far and any more help would be appreciated. thanks

You *may* have to increase the voltage to the northbridge chip...the info is in the link I posted

No current chipset that I know of supports 1200mhz memory (600mhz) Kudos for trying to push it, but I dont think your gonna get it to 1200mhz.

The point of running past the bus speed??? Ummm... more bandwidth? Remember core2 quad pumped, thats 1333mhz to 1200mhz + all the other devices using up the bandwidth.

Does the asus manual or website say it can run 1200mhz ram???

"The point of running past the bus speed??? Ummm... more bandwidth?"

We went over this issue before. Do you know how to calculate bandwidth? The max bandwidth for a quad-pumped CPU at 333MHz frequency is 10,666MB/sec. The max bandwidth for DDR-SDRAM running at 560MHz frequency in dual channel mode would be 17,920MB/sec. In other words, the RAM bandwidth would exceed the CPU bandwidth by 7254MB/sec or 68%.

I repeat...what's the point?
