I have an Asus A7Pro (VIA ApolloKT133 chipset)- PC133/VC133, 200Mhz FSB AGP Pro4x Socket A (462) mb runing with an AMB 1.1 Athon T-bird CPU. The cooling fan clogged with lint/debris and overheated (speculation). System would reboot in the middle of processing, lock-up, etc. Now when I turn the machine on it powers, hard drive turns, DVD lights up but the monitor remains blank. If I unplug the monitor from the system, I get a "no signal" error message. Questions... is it the CPU or MB. If it's the CPU, what can I replace it with, and is it worthwhile to do so as the system is a few years old? Thanks for your input.

I can't help you, but I just installed the same CPU as you yesterday and it's overheating too :(

Had you made any changes at the time this happened? Did you try clearing CMOS?

No changes made. I opened the case because of reoccurring problems and saw the fins on the CPU fan were clogged. So I removed the fan (which was difficult to do!), reset the CPU, reinstalled the CPU fan, plugged the unit back in and fired it up to a blank screen. Possibly damaged the CPU trying to remove the fan - don't know for sure. I tried reseating the various cards but with no effect. Txs for your help!

Sounds like you fried your CPU. Best thing to do is to just buy a new one. Or if you want a new computer. And as for overheating you should make sure you applied thermal grease correctly. If you do this wrong then you will definitely have bad temps.
