Comment:

when i change the power settings on XP my laptop automatically switches the processor speed to conserve batteries or add speed, depending on the settings; however these are really unreliable and usually i end up with the wrong speed at the wrong time. how can i manually set the processor to run at the speed i want without taking apart my laptop? i have an athlon 2.1, compaq presario 700.

i know there has to be a way to underclock or overclock the processor from software, because XP does it. help is appriciated.

Only thing I can think of right now is shutting off the power conservation when you want to use the laptop full out. Do you think that would work?

Just curious about how you go about overclocking from XP...does that include Home Edition? If so, how do you access that feature? thanks.
