Ok, I've read many places that the multiplyer doesn't really add much performance. The ONLY difference betweet the 2500+ and the 2800+ is the multiplyer. They both have a 166fsb, but the 2800+ has a 11.5 instead of a 11 multiplyer. So if only raising the multiplyer doesn't give you much gain, why would you buy a 2800+ instead of a 2500+?

Obviously there is a 300Mhz gain but if you run the 2800+ at default 11.5 x 166, it will not perform as well as a 2500+ running at 11 x 173. It's the matter that the whole rig will run faster, not just the cpu.

The beauty of the 2500+ is that it can easily attain 3200+ performance simply by increasing the FSB to 200MHz with little or no vcore increment.

If you take both 2500+ and 2800+ at stock speed, it's sure that the 2800+ will run faster... Just raising the 2500's multiplier can give a great boost in performance. It's true that increasing the FSB will give a better performance boost, but not that much. I have a 1800+ who can run at a maximum of 1925 mhz, and it perform near the same when running at 133 FSB and 175 FSB...

First off thx for all the responses.
I only have pc2700 memory, crucial (i've heard not a good overclocker), so I'll probaly only raise the fsb to 180 at MAX. That being said, all I can really do is change the multiplyer to obtain 2.02 or 2.2 Ghz.

Don't underestimate your memory. You may be surprised.
