low temps low noise

I'm trying to get temps about 45ºC without noise with this Palomino 1600 (no OC) I cannot use any of those cooling progs. because I use Linux/*BSD in this box. My current temp is about 51ºC (read using the CPU thermal diode). I intend to buy a 'silent' CPU cooler to improve this, currently I'm considering the following: - Artic Cooling Cooper Silent 2TC (cheap, seems the best option) - Thermaltake Silent Boost A188 (expensive) - Titan CU9TB/SC XP3 - TITAN D5TB CU35/SC The Titan ones have an speed regulator and at low speed they are silent (but loud at highest speed) and cheap, they don't convince me much. Artic cooling and Thermaltake seem to be much better but the Thermaltake one is expensive and maybe I get same results with the Artic Cooling one. Anybody has some experience with those coolers and can give me some advices.

linux has software cooling built in. Under advanced power management you need to enable 'halt cpu when idle'.
51c from the thermal diode is a lower than average palomino temp. The easiest solution is to get a 60mm-80mm adapter and a low rpm 80mm fan. Your temps may go up a little depending on how low the fan rpms are, but you have plenty of temp room.
only the silentboost above will give you lower temps, and not by much even then. You need an slk800 with a low rpm 80mm fan to achieve what you are after.

i like my water cooling system its very good at keeping it cool, and its only 29DB
Summary: Good to see that I'm not alone in getting low Athlon temps w/out any extreme cooling. I have an A7N8X-D w/DDR333, in an Antec 1080PLUS (one 80mm in front, one 80mm on the side, two 80mm out the back,...
Summary: "The Normal temps with slk is around 18 c idle" if that's true then I need to put a few idling P4 systems in my house so I can turn off the air conditioning and just let the P4s cool me down. Accordin...
